Visualizing Wikipedia

A visualization tool for Wikipedia that shows the areas topics under the most revision.

Our hope for this visualization approach, which we continue to improve on, is that it could be updated in real time to give a macro sense of what is happeing in Wikipedia. I personally hope that some variation of it will end up in high schools as a teaching tool and for generating discussions.

How will wikipedia work in China?

China’s interest in it’s own history remains a subject of great debate. Chinese Wikipedia will naturally be a site of contention, and the history of great powers is a natural sell. Rising prosperity in Asia may not have directly contributed to the almost US$20M price tag for a porcelain bowl, but it’s certainly going to play a role in the future.

The founder of the vastly popular Web encyclopedia Wikipedia is planning on developing Wikiasari, an Internet search engine which will compete with Yahoo and Google. In an interview with The Times of London, Jimmy Wales mentioned that his web site search engine will utilize the same user-based technology that Wikipedia uses.

Death By Coffee

Coffee information on Wikipedia can be scary.

I decided to investigate further. After all, as an Engineering student, I recall drinking caffeinated beverages until Physics started to make sense, just in time for exams. Wikipedia paints a scary picture:
