Mapstraction Improvements
So, does this mean we plan on switching away from Google maps? No, Google maps are great. We don’t mind saying how much we like Google’s APIs. To Google’s credit, they haven’t just rested on their lead in this space. Despite great innovation over the last year from other players like Yahoo! Maps and MultiMap, Google have done an excellent job of staying ahead of their competition.

eBay Find Of The Day
eBay Motors has been a treasure trove of good finds this week, and today we bring you another rare SUV like the Saleen Explorer XP8. Though there are more than a few full-size SUVs on the market today, for decades the Chevy Suburban ruled a segment of one before the Ford Expedition arrived in 1996. But until Ford could develop a suitable Suburban fighter it made do by offering the Bronco Centurion, a four-door version of the Ford Bronco that was converted by a company named Centurion Vehicles.

The Craigslist Bible
Yes, you might be able to get the same type of sales through Ebay, but I have experienced Ebay Motors. I sold a motorcycle or rather tried to sell a motorcycle through Ebay and it never sold at the undervalued price. In Ebay, you have one winner and if he backs out, you can beg the number two winner at his top bid price. With Craiglist, you can examine past listings and then set your price and have multiple people responding. I eventually sold my motorcycle to some random guy I met for $200 more than the top bid on Ebay.

A Little Accident
I’ve been stalking Craigslist and EBAY ever since the accident. It’s time to buy an older sewing machine that I am less likely to destroy. If you have any recommendations for a reliable machine that can handle sewing heavy fabrics (denim), let me know.

Goodbye To Local Bookstores
Now that I live away from Watermark, I have found myself buying more books from Amazon. Mostly because I haven’t gotten around to finding a good Bellingham bookstore. And hey, the Amazon books show up on my door in two days. *sigh* A sinner I am.

Visualizing Wikipedia
Our hope for this visualization approach, which we continue to improve on, is that it could be updated in real time to give a macro sense of what is happeing in Wikipedia. I personally hope that some variation of it will end up in high schools as a teaching tool and for generating discussions.

Watching Tragedy Unfold
Like many people, I have watched CNN much of today - watching the unfolding as the horrific story of the Virginia Tech gunman and multiple murders unfolded. Truly a tragedy, and my heart goes out to the many families who are grieving tonight.
